![]() On Sunday (weather permitting) I will be flying back out to New Mexico to spend some time at Ghost Ranch. For those of you who don't know - that is where I was introduced to lapidary under the instruction of Dale Smith. This time I will be working with Judith Foster and it is a two week intensive for women only and I hear there are 12 of us! We work in the studio all day and then chat, brainstorm and sip wine all evening. Judith asked that we get an idea of what we want to work on and I am focusing on Gemstone setting. A little bling to go along with the stone. I am also taking all my old gold jewelry and am hoping to melt it down and try my hand at that. It is such a treat to be able to spend two weeks - completely undistracted - surrounded by women of like mind. It's in the middle of the desert with no cell phone coverage and limited internet access but I hope to keep you posted with what I'm learning, what I'm thinking and were I'm heading on this next leg of whatever this journey is. Looking to be inspired. Sandy

Fantastic, Sandy! I love the lapidary pieces you've done - they are my passion, but I'm sure your gold and gemstone work will also be beautiful! Have a wonderful time and renew mind and body while you're out there. Fabulous vibe in NM! Love that state.

AuthorI started my journey into jewelry making in 2005 while I was working in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, an area inundated with amazing artisans. I started with glass, which led to silver, which led to inlay, which led to joy. Archives
